Thirty years ago, Intel’s cofounder, Mr. Gordon Moore, predicted that computer processing power could be doubled every 18-24 months. This is measured by doubling the transistor counts in a microprocessor. This prediction is now known as Moore’s Law.
Since then, others such as Eric Metcalfe, have predicted similar nonlinear technology trends.
In this blog post, the author cites an IBM research group working to analyze how to improve “services systems.” Although I’m not familar with this particular IBM study, at first glance it would appear that this problem domain is one in which Enterprise Architecture could help to frame it. The “Enterprise” in this problem set is *all* services firms. Quite a daunting scope, but with the right EA methodology and automated EA toolsets, it would make for a challenging engagement.
